What Did I learn?

Going into this was challenging because I had no prior knowledge of working out, or even a consistent history of exercising. My uncle helped me make a list of exercises to start with. I learned how to perform different exercises and use all the gym equipment for various muscle groups. With more help, I put together a workout schedule and routine that I would stick to.


Routine

It was important for me to create a workout that suited me so that I could begin making progress. Every other week I would try to lift more than I could the last, either by adding more weight, or performing extra reps until failure. The exercises would get more and more easier, and I could lift heavier weights.


Experience

Weightlifting has opened my eyes up to the benefits of exercising. When I was younger, I didn’t realize the importance of physical activity. Not only does it help keep your body healthy, it helps maintain a healthy mind. Pushing through the little roadblocks whether that’s being too tired to go to the gym, feeling down in the dumps, or even pure procrastination has shaped my way of thinking entirely when it comes to day-to-day life. I can apply this learned behavior in other areas of my life and persevere through tough times.
